Introduction
My name is Allison Slobom. I’m a mother to one sweet baby boy, with another baby boy arriving in just a couple of weeks! My journey with Foundation Fitness started in 2018, shortly after the gym first opened its doors. What began as a part-time coaching position turned into full-time coaching, then into a General Manager role, and now, the incredible opportunity to become the owner.
This place has been my second home for over seven years.I’ve been the only trainer who has stayed through every season, and the relationships I’ve built here have fueled my passion to see this community thrive. Foundation Fitness is not just a gym—it’s a place where people grow stronger both physically and mentally. That’s why I want to share the story behind my passion for fitness and how I came to lead this amazing community.
Where My Fitness Journey Began
I grew up playing sports like soccer and running, and fitness was always part of my life. Becoming a trainer, however, wasn’t originally part of the plan. I went to school in Arkansas to become a physical education teacher, but when I moved back to California, I learned my credentials didn’t transfer. While figuring out my next steps, I decided to try personal training—thinking it would just be temporary.
Everything shifted in 2020, when COVID-19 changed all of our lives. That season taught me how important fitness—and more importantly, community—is to people’s overall health. I realized that being a trainer isn’t just about leading workouts. It’s about giving people space to breathe, move, and let go of the stress of the day, even if just for an hour.
On a personal level, fitness transformed from being about aesthetics to being about true health and longevity. Especially now as a mom,my focus is on being the healthiest version of myself so I can be fully present for my kids. We get one body in this life, and I intend to take care of mine so I can enjoy every moment of motherhood.
Why I Chose to Become a Coach
My passion for coaching deepened when other incredible trainers, Angela and Taylor, joined our team. Their energy inspired me to grow as both a trainer and a leader. I began diving deeper into education and developing my coaching style so I could better serve our members.
What lights me up most is watching members achieve breakthroughs—whether it’s hitting a new PR, losing inches, or simply walking into the gym with more confidence than when they started. One story that has always stuck with me came from a client who shared that before joining our program, his marriage had been struggling. After his transformation, he said his relationship with his wife had completely turned around. Knowing that what we do here can impact lives far beyond the gym floor is exactly why I love this work.
The Dream of Taking Over Foundation Fitness
For years, I toyed with the idea of starting my own gym from scratch. But when the chance to take over Foundation Fitness—the place I already loved so deeply—came along, I knew it was meant to be. Saying “yes” was the easiest hard decision I’ve ever made.
Of course, stepping into ownership came with challenges. There was even talk of the doors closing before I took over. But in just the last five months, we’ve already made huge strides forward. I’ve also had to wrestle with my own imposter syndrome—wondering if I was truly fit for this role. But I remind myself daily of the vision: to grow our large group community to 150 members, expand semi-private training into a premium coaching option, and one day open a second location. I know what Foundation Fitness has to offer, and I want to share it with as many people as possible.
Bringing the Vision to Life
What makes Foundation Fitness unique is that we’re not just a “show up and sweat” kind of gym. We are a coaching facility first and foremost. Our mission is to educate, support, and empower our members with knowledge that creates lasting change.
We teach proper form, explain why we program the way we do,and provide real guidance on nutrition—not quick fixes or fad diets. If we don’t know the answer to something, we research it until we do. Everything we do is rooted in putting our members first.
Why This Matters to Me (and to You)
I’ve been with Foundation Fitness for over seven years, and I’ve seen this community grow from a handful of HIIT classes into something truly special. Every single day, I show up because of you—our members. You inspire me to be a better coach, leader, and person.
I’ve watched people here overcome divorce, knee replacements, miscarriages, the loss of loved ones, cancer, and more. Through it all, they keep showing up, and they allow me and this community to walk alongside them. That’s the power of Foundation Fitness—it’s not just about workouts, it’s about belonging.
If you’re looking for a place to transform not just your body, but your life, this is your home. I want to know your story, your struggles, and how we can support you. At Foundation Fitness, you’ll find more than just results—you’ll find a community that truly cares.
Taking over Foundation Fitness has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’m beyond excited for the future and for the lives we’ll continue to change together. This isn’t just my story—it’s our story, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
